How SaferStays collects, uses and protects your information.
Last updated: May 2026
SaferStays is a self-service compliance record-keeping tool for accommodation hosts. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
We use your information to operate the Service, send reminders and notifications, provide customer support, improve the product, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only with: workers you invite to your properties; service providers that host or operate the platform (e.g. cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing); and authorities where legally required.
Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure. We take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, but no internet service is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe.
We retain your records for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your records are permanently erased and we do not keep a copy. It is your responsibility to export and retain your own health and safety records before deleting your account, including for any period you are required to keep them under law (for example, certain incident records under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015). You can export your data at any time from Settings.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to access and correct your personal information. Email saferstaysnz@gmail.com to make a request or to raise a privacy concern. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We do not use advertising tracking cookies.
The Service is not intended for users under 18.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app.
